About camcorders
What you put in is what you get out! Below are the predominant factors that determine the quality of video camera;
(1) The lens and optical zoom. Using digital zoom is not recommended as it loses quality.
(2) The sensor that covert the light into digital signals. The sensor is  similar to the RAM of a computer.
(3) The processor. For Blue-ray you would have to record about 25mb/sec and in High Definition about 10 Mb/sec.

  • Broadcast camcorders; Canon XA-10, Canon XF - 100, Canon XF - 300
  • Hard drive camcorders; Panasonic, Sony
  • Memory stick camcorders; canon, Panasonic, Sony

About the sound
For example, to have a plane fly in a video with sound moving from one speaker to another, you would require a Dolby enabled video camera and editing software. Cheap cameras deliver simply poor sound as broadcast camcorders are manufactured with a condenser microphone or a horse shoe for that or a build-in sound jacks. High-end cameras (i.e. Canon) have audio zoom functions which delivers broadcast quality.

About  lighting
The golden rule is to have is to have three light sources;
(1) A head light from the top. The sun will do just fine
(2) Main light (from the right)
(3) Secondary side light (from the left)

About editing
The most expensive and  time-consuming aspect of a video producing is editing.  Editing is the process to merge, add, delete and paste huge digital files. These files are massive and a home pc would literally take weeks to render a five minute movie clip in high definition. After you have the final production in hand, you would need to redo the entire project if you want to delete a single second on the final cut.
